Fitzpatrick Skin Typing and Aging Analysis DVD and Ensuring an Optimal Outcome in Skin Care Bundle
 Pamela Hill
ISBN-10: 1-4283-8082-5 | ISBN-13: 978-1-4283-8082-0
Approximate running time: 60 minutes
This bundle includes both the Fitzpatrick Skin Typing and Aging Analysis DVD
and Milady’s Aesthetician Series title, Ensuring an Optimal Outcome
in Skin Care authored by Pamela Hill. The DVD discusses, in detail, the
Fitzpatrick Skin Typing System developed by Dr. Thomas Fitzpatrick. The Fitzpatrick
system requires asking each client questions concerning skin color, unaltered eye
and hair color, ethnicity and response to ultra violet light without skin protection.
Using the answers to the questions, Fitzpatrick lists six types of skin, Types I, II,
III, IV, V and VI. These cover a variety of ethnic considerations and skin color,
eye and hair color and sun reactions ranging from always burn and freckle to tan,
never burn and never freckle, and everything in between. Also covered in detail are
the two primary aging analysis systems, the Rubin Classification of Aging Analysis,
and the Glogau Classification System. The Glogau Classification system measures the
degree and amount of photo damage, assigning a numerical designation, whereas the
Rubin system uses only the aging that is directly connected to photo damage or sun
exposure. Self-scoring quizzes are presented at appropriate parts of the program for
immediate feedback on learning progress and retention.
The DVD can be used directly with the book and is a great resource for real world
practical advice. The book addresses some of the most important topics in medical
skin care-not the technical side of the business but the relationship side.
Readers will learn how to conduct a client consultation and the most important
components of a client care plan. They will also gain valuable advice about
developing and maintaining positive working relationships with physicians. From
clinician ethics to patient rights, this book helps the reader advance professionally
by educating them about these important components of the business.
